How To Check Your Sassa SRD R370 Status For June 2024

If you’ve applied for the South African Social Security Agency’s (SASSA) Special Relief of Distress (SRD) R370 grant, it’s easy to check if your application has been approved.

Here’s how to do it, even if you’re not a tech expert

What You’ll Need:

• Your South African ID number: The same one you used when applying.
• Your phone: Make sure it’s the number you provided on your application, as you might get an SMS.
• Internet access: You can use a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

Checking Your Sassa R370 Status Online

1. Go to the SASSA SRD website: Open your web browser and type in the official SASSA website address: srd.sassa.gov.za
2. Find the "Application Status" section: Look for a button or link that says something like "Check Application Status" or "SRD Status." It's usually on the homepage.
3. Enter your information: You'll be asked to type in your South African ID number and the phone number you used on your application. Double-check these to make sure they're correct!
4. Click "Check Status" or "Submit": Look for the button to send your information.

Your status: Your application status will now be displayed on the screen. It could say things like:

Approved: Great news! Your grant has been approved.

Pending: Your application is still being processed. You can check back later.

Declined: Your application wasn't approved. You can usually appeal this decision.

Checking Your Sassa R370 Status On WhatsApp

1. Save the SASSA WhatsApp number: Open your contacts and add the following number: 082 046 8553. You can save it as "SASSA SRD" or something similar, so you remember it.
2. Open WhatsApp and find the SASSA contact: Look for the contact you just saved ("SASSA SRD") in your WhatsApp contact list.
3. Start a new chat with SASSA: Tap on the SASSA contact to open a new chat window.
4. Type "Status" followed by your ID number: In the message box, type the word "Status" (without quotes), then a space, and then your South African ID number (with no spaces). It should look like this:Status 1234567890123
5. Send the message: Tap the send button (usually an arrow icon) to send your message to SASSA.
6. Wait for a reply: SASSA will automatically process your request and send you a reply. This might take a few minutes, so be patient.
7. Check your status: The reply from SASSA will contain your SRD grant application status. It might say:
   • Approved: Congratulations! Your grant has been approved.
   • Pending: Your application is still being processed. You can check back later.
