How to Change Your Sassa R370 Phone Number without An Application ID

Unfortunately, changing your SASSA SRD phone number online directly isn’t possible without your Application ID for security reasons.

However, there’s a simple process you can follow in person to get it updated.

Here’s a detailed guide to help you through it:

Before You Begin:

  • Gather your documents: Make sure you have your South African ID book (original and a copy) ready.
  • Find your nearest SASSA local office: You can easily locate your closest SASSA office by using the SASSA website’s office finder tool. Here’s how to find it:
    1. Visit the SASSA website (https://srd.sassa.gov.za/).
    2. Click on the “Find a SASSA Local Office” link in the “Find Us” section.
    3. Enter your province and any other details requested to find the nearest office address.
  • Plan your visit: SASSA offices can get busy, so consider going early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid long queues.

Steps to Update Your Phone Number

  1. Head to your nearest SASSA local office: Locate the one you found using the SASSA website’s office finder.
  2. Take a queue number: Look for the queue ticketing system and obtain a number relevant to the service you need (SRD enquiries or updates).
  3. Wait for your turn: Be patient and wait for your queue number to be called.
  4. Inform the official about your request: Once it’s your turn, politely inform the SASSA official that you’d like to update the phone number associated with your SRD application.
  5. Present your documents: Hand over your South African ID book (original and copy) to the official.
  6. Explain the situation: Briefly explain why you need to update your phone number. This could be because you lost your old phone, changed numbers, or simply want to ensure you receive updates on the new one.
  7. Verification process: The SASSA official will likely ask you some security questions to verify your identity as the SRD applicant. Be prepared to answer these accurately.
  8. New phone number confirmation: Provide the new phone number you want to register with your SRD application. The official might ask you to confirm the number by repeating it back to them.
  9. Processing and updates: The SASSA official will process your request and update your phone number in the system. You might receive a confirmation slip or SMS notification (depending on the office procedure).

Important Tips:

  • Be polite and professional: Remember, the SASSA staff are there to help. A courteous approach will ensure a smoother experience.
  • Carry extra copies: It’s always a good idea to have an extra photocopy of your ID in case they need it.
  • Ask questions: If anything is unclear during the process, don’t hesitate to ask the SASSA official for clarification.
  • Keep a record: If you receive a confirmation slip, keep it for your records in case of any future issues.

While this guide focuses on updating your phone number, the process for changing your email address associated with your SRD application would be similar.

It’s important to note that processing times can vary depending on the workload at the SASSA office.
