Software Engineer: Front-End II

Job Description

Capitec is seeking a Level II Front-End Software Engineer to join a cross-functional team responsible for full lifecycle software development. This role focuses on building intuitive, responsive client-facing web and mobile interfaces. The engineer will turn design mockups into interactive applications, contributing to a seamless user experience while maintaining high development standards and collaborating in problem-solving processes.

Requirements

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational (minimum)
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology (preferred)
• 3+ years of proven experience in front-end software development, project delivery, and implementation
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks and technologies
• Understanding of IT systems development processes (SDLC)
• Proficiency in application development and advanced programming concepts
• Knowledge of responsive design principles and mobile-first development
• Familiarity with browser compatibility issues and performance optimization
• Experience with front-end build tools and package managers
• Understanding of front-end design patterns
• Experience with version control systems
• Knowledge of testing practices

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance front-end software systems and applications
• Translate business or technical analyst requirements into functional front-end solutions
• Build user-friendly, responsive interfaces for web and mobile platforms
• Ensure adherence to design patterns and responsive design principles
• Collaborate within cross-functional teams on system architecture and design
• Optimize application performance across browsers and devices
