Product Manager

Job Description

Capitec is hiring a Product Manager to support the Product Head in optimizing and managing the full product lifecycle. This role involves guiding product strategy, partnering with software development teams, and driving delivery through collaboration, planning, and customer feedback. The position requires deep technical understanding, strong stakeholder communication, and proven experience leading multifunctional teams in the banking or financial sector.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (minimum)
• Honours degree (preferred)
• At least 8 years of management experience in senior-level product development or product management
• 5+ years of experience managing, developing, and delivering a product
• Experience working at tactical and operational levels and contributing to product strategy
• Experience integrating business and technical product segments
• Time spent in one or more technical roles
• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across business units
• Experience authoring product lifecycle documents including business plans, roadmaps, and specifications
• Experience conducting usability studies and customer research
• Competence in using data and metrics to validate and measure success
• Experience in client development and validating products through customer feedback
• Ability to align projects with corporate strategies and objectives
• Experience working with cross-functional and remote/hybrid teams
• Ability to lead multi-functional teams to deliver on objectives
• Experience in business development within the banking or financial sector
• Financial acumen for budget management
• Strong systems thinking and decision-making skills
• Knowledge of Agile product ownership and methodology
• Understanding of product technology and technical dependencies
• People and stakeholder management knowledge
• Data-driven approach with analytical and quantitative skills
• Technological literacy and adaptability
• Clear criminal and credit record

Responsibilities

• Support the Product Head in optimizing product strategy and execution
• Lead product development across its lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business goals
• Collaborate with Software Development Manager and teams to prioritize product build sequences
• Translate product strategies into tactical and operational plans
• Integrate technical and business segments to meet delivery targets
• Author and manage documents including roadmaps, business cases, and requirements
• Utilize customer feedback and usability research to inform product direction
• Apply data and metrics to validate decisions and track success
• Manage cross-functional and distributed teams to deliver high-impact results
• Maintain alignment between product initiatives and overall corporate objectives
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement in product design and processes
