People Services Intern

Job Description

Join our People Services team in a hybrid internship based at our Midrand offices. As a first point of contact for HR-related queries, you'll help handle transactional People operations, process colleague requests, update HR systems, and escalate complex queries when needed. The role involves assisting in managing a knowledge base, maintaining records, and delivering an excellent colleague service experience.

Requirements

• Completed Grade 12 / Matric
• Completed Human Resources degree
• HR-related experience; Shared Service Centre experience is preferred
• Experience delivering exceptional customer/colleague service under tight deadlines
• Knowledge of HR processes and ability to interpret policies for specific cases
• Familiarity with HRIS and case management systems is preferred
• Capable of performing routine HR administrative tasks such as data processing, record management, and minute taking
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Organised with good problem-solving abilities
• Able to manage sensitive and confidential data accurately
• Comfortable handling difficult conversations and colleague interactions
• Technically proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

• Respond to and process colleague and manager inquiries related to People policies, procedures, and programs
• Update systems with changes such as new hire details, promotions, salary changes, and terminations
• Guide users to self-service resources or redirect to appropriate sources of information
• Support People colleagues in processing People-related requests and escalate complex cases when needed
• Track and document all colleague cases using People Services technology and systems
• Maintain accurate and consistent records following standard processes and knowledge documents
• Continuously contribute to improving documentation and service levels through better case handling
