Job Description

The City of Johannesburg invites energetic and ambitious graduates to join the Intake Officers Internship Programme, offering hands-on experience in one of Africa’s largest metropolitan municipalities. Interns will work at the Metro Centre in Braamfontein, supporting the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) unit with frontline services, document processing, data collection, and helping citizens access municipal resources. This programme is designed for youth eager to contribute to Johannesburg’s development while gaining essential public sector skills in a structured environment.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
  • National Diploma in Public Administration, Business Administration, Office Administration, Social Auxiliary, Social Sciences, or equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 6, or Degree at NQF Level 7
  • Unemployed graduates who have not participated in an internship programme previously
  • Residency in the City of Johannesburg
  • Ability to work well within a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate administrative requirements for the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) unit
  • Provide effective and comprehensive administrative support to ensure EAP unit efficiency
  • Offer logistical services to support EAP unit operations
  • Promote the efficiency of the Employee Assistance Programme
  • Collate and prepare qualitative and quantitative information for statutory reports
  • Assist with frontline services for citizens
  • Process documents and collect data to support municipal services
  • Help citizens access key municipal resources
  • Apply HR Values, City of Johannesburg Values, and Batho Pele principles in all tasks
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all activities
