Student Teacher Internship: Foundation or Intermediate Phase

Western Province Prep School, an independent Anglican school for boys, invites applications for its Future Teachers Academy internship programme starting 1 January 2026. The school offers a balanced education aiming to develop learners into solutionaries for a just and sustainable world. The internship provides hands-on experience in academics, sport, and creative arts, with structured mentorship, professional development, and possible on-site accommodation.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a BEd programme or pursuing an undergraduate degree with intention to complete a PGCE at a SAQA-accredited institution
• Innovative, creative, dedicated, and energetic
• Willingness to participate in academic, sports, and arts activities
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
• Prepared to undertake additional duties such as boarding house responsibilities, assessment support, and after-school events
• Ability to coach school sports (advantageous)
• Comfortable providing administrative and scribing support for assessments (training provided)

Responsibilities

• Engage in structured mentorship and training as part of the Future Teachers Academy
• Gain experience in classroom teaching, sport, and creative arts
• Participate in professional development and in-house teaching preparation programme
• Support school activities including after-school and evening events
• Assist with boarding house responsibilities if accommodated on-site
• Provide assessment support including reading and scribing
