Job Description
Momentum Metropolitan Holdings is seeking a dedicated Shift Primary Health Nurse to deliver specialized nursing care in a dynamic healthcare environment. You will assess, plan, and implement patient care, ensuring high-quality service within the scope of practice. This role involves working flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, to provide comprehensive primary health care, promote wellness, and support patient rehabilitation.
Requirements
- National Senior Certificate
- Nursing Diploma or Degree
- Postgraduate qualification in Primary Health Care (One-year basic diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment or Treatment and Care)
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse
- Dispensing Course certificate
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse with additional qualification in Primary Health Care
- MS 365 proficiency
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, including health history, physical examinations, and interpreting vital signs and tests
- Formulate, implement, guide, and control a specialist nursing care action plan
- Carry out medical practitioners’ treatment requirements and report back
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts and adapt to changing patient or environmental conditions
- Refer patients appropriately to a medical practitioner
- Prescribe and dispense medication in the absence of a pharmacist or medical practitioner, within the scope of practice
- Counsel patients and families on conditions, treatments, and social consequences
- Educate patients and others on illness prevention and health promotion
- Provide healthcare professionals with patient information in accordance with standards
- Address social and rehabilitative needs to integrate patients into normal working and social environments
- Investigate clinical performance gaps of subordinates and initiate corrective measures
- Conduct clinical performance assessments
- Supervise practical training of learners
- Develop lesson plans and provide training to nursing staff and healthcare professionals
- Promote a team approach in delivering patient care
- Provide leadership in specialty nursing care
- Provide input on annual budgets for specialty equipment
- Participate in stock audits
- Extract and compile various reports
- Develop appropriate care standards for all staff levels within the specialty
- Provide information about patient care, environment, and trends at meetings
- Audit nursing care plans
- Stay updated with new technology and changing legislation
- Report occupational diseases and injuries
