Mechanical Engineer (Lichtenburg)

Job Description

Afrimat is looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to manage programs that monitor equipment status, implement maintenance projects, and optimize plant and mobile equipment reliability. The ideal candidate will have extensive management experience in a mining, process plant, or manufacturing environment, along with a broad knowledge of engineering principles and a knack for root cause failure analysis.

Requirements

• Grade 12
• BSC Mechanical Engineering Degree
• Valid Driver’s License
• A minimum of five years’ management experience within a mining, process plant, manufacturing environment
• Knowledge and experience of maintenance planning and cost centre control
• Sound multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge and experience associated with mechanical, electrical, electronics, and structural infrastructure and systems
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment and engineering principles in heavy machinery industry
• Good knowledge and experience of overall plant processes and operational systems
• Technical knowledge required for in-depth Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations
• Diagnosing, analysing, and reporting skills
• Process, plant and equipment optimization
• Ability to work independently within set targets
• People management and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Manage programs that monitor all equipment’s operational and conditional status
• Create trends and compile trend data for component level conditions
• Oil analysis monitoring – coordinate approach to oil analysis, trends, create database of lubricants in use vs recommended
• Implement maintenance projects to improve plant reliability of processing plant and mobile equipment
• Lifting equipment and machinery
• Workshop Stores with hazardous chemicals and oil storage areas
• Diesel Installations and dispensing facilities
• Structural Integrity: Design, Installation, Repair, Removal and Replacement
• On Site Traffic Management Systems. Ability to work independently within set targets
