The Senior Business Development Manager at Giesecke+Devrient is responsible for managing turnover, sales, and account management activities across Sub-Saharan Africa. The role involves accurate sales reporting, forecasting, customer engagement, and identifying new opportunities to ensure customer satisfaction and competitive advantage.
Requirements
- University Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years professional market-related experience in sales, including preparation of proposals, presentations, and quotations, preferably in the financial sector
- Minimum of 2 years technical and business experience with chip technology, security, and software solutions
- Ability to develop and maintain long-term strategic and business relationships with Visa, MasterCard, and issuing banks in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Understanding of credit/debit card business, electronic funds transfer, account processing, and related financial services
- Proven involvement in relationship building with customers at senior management level
- Experience in development of service offerings in the banking industry
- High degree of business acumen including negotiation skills, sales strategies, pricing strategies, and financial management
- Ability to apply specific sales methodologies (e.g., Miller/Heiman strategic selling)
- Leadership qualities with ability to provide input to facilitate management decisions
- Proven ability to grow or develop new markets and meet stringent sales targets
- Ability to produce high-quality proposals, presentations, tenders, and quotations
- Ability to work collaboratively with project and technical teams
Responsibilities
- Define and ensure the fulfilment of sales targets by monitoring short-term sales demand activities
- Conduct regular customer meetings at all levels, defining actions with personal follow up
- Communicate customer-related issues to relevant internal interfaces and escalate when necessary
- Prepare and present proposals, presentations, contracts, and related documentation
- Develop and prepare client presentations, RFPs, and RFIs
- Maintain a well-stocked sales funnel and report funnel status regularly
- Understand and explain customers’ business models and key economic drivers
- Gather competitor information through customer contacts, trade shows, and conferences
- Provide detailed revenue forecasting and budgeting on a monthly basis
- Identify product and service gaps and deliver concise input for new product requests
- Prepare a variety of status reports including activity, customer, monthly, and budget reports
- Coordinate customer interface functions to ensure smooth implementation of new products or major changes
- Ensure customer consulting with the involvement of subject matter experts
- Maintain close working relationships with technical and order management teams
- Negotiate customer contracts and SLAs, including renewals and extensions
- Identify high-growth potential projects and contribute to business cases
- Monitor accounts receivables and inventory for assigned customers, resolving issues proactively
- Contribute to proposals for cost-saving opportunities
- Develop and implement a sales plan and manage existing customer accounts
