Job Description

Robben Island Museum is offering a graduate internship programme for 2025 across multiple departments. This opportunity allows graduates to contribute to heritage preservation and education while developing professional skills in a structured, mentored environment. Interns will gain practical experience and support the museum’s mission to inspire through history and cultural legacy.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in one of the following areas based on department placement:
  • Heritage Department: Audio Visual / Multi-Media Studies, National Diploma in Nature Conservation, Postgraduate Diploma in Museum and Heritage Studies or Archives
  • Office of the CEO: Bachelor's degree in Legal/LLB, Public Administration (Performance Planning & Evaluation)
  • Marketing & Tourism: Diploma in Marketing, Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Media Studies
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science (Librarian)
  • Human Resources: National Diploma in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology, Health & Safety qualification, Basic Life Support (HPCSA registered), Code 10 Driver’s License with PrDP, CPD compliance
  • Finance: Bachelor’s degree in Finance
  • Supply Chain Management: Bachelor’s degree in SCM, Logistics, or Procurement
  • Operations: National Diploma in Public Relations Management, Customer Relationship Management, Travel & Tourism, BTech in Facility Management, BEng/BSc in Structural or Civil Engineering, National Diploma in ICT, Information Systems, Computer Science, or certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA
  • Must submit a detailed CV with contactable referees and a certified copy of ID

Responsibilities

  • Support core functions within the assigned department
  • Contribute to heritage preservation, education, and public engagement projects
  • Participate in structured professional training and mentorship
  • Assist departmental staff with day-to-day responsibilities and long-term projects

  • Collaborate with museum teams on innovation and strategic initiatives
