Job Description

Ensure several tasks on site are carried out safely, environmentally responsibly, and productively, while assisting management with efficient and effective site operations.

Requirements

  • National Diploma in Civil, Industrial, Metallurgy Engineering or B Tech in Civil Engineering
  • At least one to two years’ tailings deposition experience in mining, tailings, or construction environment
  • Technical and operational skills
  • People management skills
  • Planning, organizing, leading and controlling abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Teamwork and negotiation skills
  • Problem-solving, innovation and decision-making abilities

Responsibilities

  • Execute operational and technical duties following organisational directives
  • Support implementation of business initiatives as directed
  • Work with materials and equipment cost-effectively according to standard operating procedures
  • Ensure compliance with material usage requirements
  • Comply strictly with Safety, Health, Environment and Quality policies, procedures and legislation
  • Meet all reporting and information requirements
  • Maintain professional interactions with stakeholders
  • Maintain relationships with support functions on site and at head office
  • Engage with peers and seniors to achieve project objectives
  • Contribute to daily and shift work planning and scheduling
  • Execute operational work and supervise team tasks on shift
  • Ensure paperwork and posters on site office walls are displayed and updated
  • Record and submit near misses weekly according to procedure
  • Adhere to technical standards and work methods per organisational and client requirements
  • Verify accuracy of plan drawings, quantities and material specifications
  • Record condition of arriving plant with forms and photographs
  • Lead, manage, support, guide and coach the team
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Align with client culture requirements as directed
