Lecturer (Exposure Science)

Job Description

The Wits School of Public Health is seeking a Lecturer in Exposure Science to contribute to the research portfolio in occupational and environmental exposure science. The role involves teaching, curriculum development, student supervision, and grant applications, with a focus on building research capacity in health-related exposure studies.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in environmental sciences, exposure science, occupational hygiene, chemical/ventilation engineering, or related field
• Experience in conducting research, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
• Publication of at least two scientific papers in accredited peer-reviewed journals
• Evidence of teaching experience at postgraduate level in occupational and/or environmental science
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team
• Interest in and commitment to building research capacity in occupational and environmental exposure science
• Evidence of writing and submitting grant proposals (advantageous)
• Student supervision at postgraduate level (advantageous)

Responsibilities

• Initiate, develop, and conduct health-related exposure studies
• Teach occupational and environmental exposure science to undergraduate and postgraduate students
• Contribute to curriculum development
• Supervise or co-supervise postgraduate student research within the Wits School of Public Health
• Contribute to grant applications
• Actively participate in the academic endeavours of the Wits School of Public Health
