Job Description

POWER 987 is hiring a Content Producer to craft compelling radio programming aligned with the station’s brand and audience. This position requires strong research, collaboration, and creative planning skills to support presenters and ensure the delivery of engaging, ethical, and timely content.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant field
  • Own transport required
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Basic understanding of law, ethics, and industry regulations affecting radio production
  • Ability to interpret information and generate original ideas
  • Capability to pitch ideas to senior team members
  • High-level computer skills including internet research and audio editing software
  • Understanding of the purpose and format of POWER 987
  • Familiarity with target audience characteristics
  • Knowledge of radio market, station styles, and audience demographics
  • Awareness of POWER 987’s subject focus areas
  • Understanding of required clearances and licenses (e.g., copyright, music)
  • Basic knowledge of broadcast technology

Responsibilities

  • Research and produce content that enhances Power 987’s programming
  • Facilitate regular brainstorming sessions with presenters and co-producers
  • Work with the head of programming and head of content to shape show structure
  • Collaborate with the news team to integrate breaking and developing news
  • Evaluate leads and develop story ideas for programming or news
  • Research background information and determine the unique POWER angle
  • Ensure factual accuracy and reliability of all presenter materials
  • Choose guests and topics ethically and responsibly
  • Prepare detailed running orders for presenters and engineers
  • Respond to audience feedback and adapt content accordingly
