Collections & Recoveries Advisor

Job Description

Absa Group is seeking a Collections & Recoveries Advisor to manage customer debt across multiple products through various collections and recovery strategies. The role includes negotiating repayments, settling arrangements, and restructuring accounts. Activities may involve face-to-face client interaction and referrals for litigation. This hybrid position supports the bank's efforts to reduce impairments while maintaining a focus on customer rehabilitation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Banking
• Experience in collections and recoveries processes
• Ability to negotiate repayments and settlements effectively
• Familiarity with tele-calling, SMS, letters, and digital recovery methods
• Understanding of secured and unsecured lending products
• Skills in account restructuring and rehabilitation
• Capability to manage off-balance sheet recoveries
• Willingness to conduct face-to-face meetings with clients
• Knowledge of legal recovery and litigation referral processes

Responsibilities

• Manage debt for all banking products using multiple recovery strategies
• Negotiate repayment plans and settlements with clients
• Implement restructuring and rehabilitation solutions
• Use digital and traditional methods (tele-calling, SMS, letters) to contact clients
• Conduct client meetings as needed
• Refer applicable cases for legal action
• Maximize promise-to-pay rates and minimize impairment
