Analyst MI & BI

Job Description

Absa Bank is recruiting a hybrid Analyst MI & BI to develop and maintain Management Information and Business Intelligence solutions. The role involves gathering data from various sources, transforming it into actionable insights, and supporting decision-making processes. This position focuses on optimizing performance reporting and automating solutions using Microsoft BI technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operational Research, or related fields
• Proficiency in MS SQL
• Experience with SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, and Power BI
• Knowledge of ETL processing on the Microsoft BI Stack
• Strong data interpretation and analytical skills
• Ability to design, develop, and maintain MI/BI models and dashboards
• Skill in gathering and packaging data from multiple sources into business-ready insights
• Understanding of data warehousing and data mart systems
• Ability to automate reports and reduce manual duplication
• Comfort working with internal stakeholders to align reporting objectives
• Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity of reports
• Added advantage: experience with Denodo or Hadoop

Responsibilities

• Source information from data warehouses, data marts, manual systems, and online systems
• Package and present management information for business teams and stakeholders
• Develop new reports and improve existing report formats and standards
• Analyze derived data to uncover insights and business opportunities
• Customize reports based on business requirements
• Create performance reports to assist business sales force management
• Identify and implement opportunities for report automation and process optimization
• Conduct special studies and provide management recommendations based on findings
• Handle ETL processes using Microsoft BI Stack with focus on SQL
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand reporting needs and align priorities
• Design and build MI/BI models to support business strategy
• Ensure data integrity in all reporting, including newly developed and existing reports
