Job Description

The University of South Africa (UNISA) offers a 12-month internship in the Communication Division for UNISA Radio, focusing on journalism. Interns will gain hands-on experience in content gathering, script writing, and radio journalism, contributing to UNISA’s public image and engagement efforts. This programme provides mentorship and practical workplace experience for unemployed South African graduates passionate about storytelling through journalism.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Journalism or Media Studies (NQF Level 6 or above)
• Unemployed South African citizen
• No formal work experience in the field of application
• No previous participation in an internship programme at UNISA or any other organization
• Age not older than 35 years
• UNISA graduate in the required field of study
• Ability to provide certified copies (not older than 6 months) of South African ID, Matric Certificate, Academic Record, and UNISA qualification

Responsibilities

• Gather content for radio journalism projects
• Write scripts for radio broadcasts
• Assist in radio production activities
• Contribute to UNISA’s public engagement through journalism
• Collaborate with the Communication Division team
• Ensure content aligns with UNISA’s brand and objectives
• Participate in mentorship and professional development activities
