Job Description

Join Waterkloof House Preparatory School as a Teaching Intern in the Pre-Prep phase (Grade 0000). The role provides hands-on early childhood education experience, supporting classroom activities, engaging with young children, and contributing to a nurturing, Christian school environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme (NQF Level 4 or 5 preferred)
  • Committed to completing ECD studies while gaining practical experience
  • Previous experience working with young children (babysitting, volunteer work, or practical hours through studies) advantageous
  • Nurturing, caring, patient, and passionate about working with very young children
  • Fluent in English with good communication skills with children and parents
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and physically able to manage a busy classroom
  • Prepared to work in alignment with school ethos, values, and policies
  • First Aid training or willingness to complete a course within the first few months
  • Clear criminal record and compliant with child protection regulations
  • Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement before admission to the Intern Programme

Responsibilities

  • Assist in classroom teaching and learning activities in the Pre-Prep phase
  • Engage with young children during academic and play-based activities
  • Support teachers in implementing early childhood development programmes
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and organized learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
  • Participate in professional development and training provided by the school
  • Adhere to school policies and child protection regulations
