Staff Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Dymaxa’s client is looking for a Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse with experience in psychiatric healthcare to join a professional facility in Berea, Kwa-Zulu Natal. The role covers patient care, admissions, monitoring, documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Relevant nursing qualification
• Registration with SANC
• Minimum of 1 year psychiatric experience
• Excellent English communication skills
• Passionate about psychiatric healthcare
• Sound knowledge of psychiatric conditions, treatment, medication, and risk prevention
• Capable of recognising the need for action, considering risks, and taking responsibility for results
• Able to make timely decisions and accept consequences
• Ability to identify and respond to patient needs
• Ability to improve systems and processes for continuous improvement
• Commitment to quality and consistency
• Skill to establish constructive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
• Ability to clearly present information, written and verbal
• Competence in performing technical nursing functions to required standards

Responsibilities

• Deliver effective patient care with sound knowledge of psychiatric conditions and treatment
• Accurately record all nursing documentation daily
• Monitor clients during mealtimes, those with eating disorders, and those at risk of self-harm or suicide
• Manage admissions professionally ensuring clients feel safe and settled
• Undertake other duties delegated by the Nursing Manager
