Specialist Analysis & Improvement Production Plant

Job Description

As a Specialist in Analysis and Improvement at our Mamatwan Mine, you will play a key role in driving operational excellence. This permanent position is responsible for embedding a culture of continuous improvement within the business. You will analyze production processes, identify optimization opportunities, and facilitate the implementation of initiatives like LEAN and the South32 Operating Model to ensure resources are used effectively and optimal outputs are achieved.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience within a mining production environment is required.
• Strong knowledge of LEAN principles, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA) methods.
• Essential experience in the modelling and data analysis of mining processes such as drilling, blasting, and load & haul.
• Knowledge of production/mine planning and fleet management systems is considered beneficial.
• A solid understanding of mine information systems and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and Minitab.
• An understanding of ore comminution and beneficiation processes is advantageous.
• Must have a Grade 12 certificate.
• A Degree or BTech in Mining Engineering is required.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in and support the operations' Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability initiatives.
• Analyze mining processes in detail to identify opportunities for production optimization.
• Identify and facilitate the implementation of improvement initiatives designed to enable functional excellence.
• Conduct benchmarking of the production function's performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Support the rollout and implementation of LEAN, Continuous Improvement projects, and the South32 Operating Model.
• Take ownership of the prioritization and execution of continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop standardized and simple systems that support the local management of change initiatives.
