Senior Sinking Surveyor

Job Description

Ensure precision in shaft sinking operations at Ivanhoe Mines’ Limpopo project as a Senior Sinking Surveyor. You’ll establish and maintain survey control networks, verify alignments, and produce accurate survey data to support underground mining. This role involves collaborating with project teams, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of accuracy in a state-of-the-art mining environment.

Requirements

• Mine Surveyor's Certificate of Competency (South Africa)
• National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying
• Precision alignment and control transfer

• Minimum 5 years in shaft sinking survey operations, including Slype and Line work
• Proven track record in deep-level mining survey environments

Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and verify the survey control network for shaft sinking operations
• Transfer surface control underground and align shaft steelwork and excavation
• Verify grade lines and ensure compliance with MHSA Regulation 17
• Collect, process, and update all survey data; maintain shaft sinking plans and as-built drawings
• Produce regular survey reports for project management
• Ensure all survey activities comply with MHSA and company safety standards
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure proper use of PPE
• Coordinate with project management, shaft engineers, and contractors
• Maintain and ensure availability of survey equipment and software
