Join Ivanhoe Mines as a Senior Quality Surveyor to oversee commercial aspects of shaft sinking contracts in Limpopo. You’ll manage budgets, validate claims, and ensure compliance with international quality standards. This role involves mentoring junior team members, liaising with stakeholders, and driving cost-effective solutions in a dynamic mining environment, contributing to the success of a world-class project.
Requirements
- BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
- Cost Engineer Certificate
- Registration with Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent professional body (preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of QS principles for mining environments
- Proficiency in MS Office and QS software (Candy, QS Plus)
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
- Financial analysis and cost control expertise
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Ability to coach and mentor for effective skill transfer
- 8 to 10 years in construction and EPCM environments, with at least 2 years in a management role
- Experience in shaft sinking or deep-level mining projects
- Exposure to African mining projects (preferred)
- Proficiency in French and English (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all commercial aspects of EPCM and non-EPCM shaft sinking contracts, ensuring claims, invoices, variations, and final accounts are validated and compliant
- Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets; track actual costs against baseline and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Ensure adherence to international construction codes, quality standards, and ISO 9001:2015 QMS
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment on commercial and quality matters
- Maintain accurate, auditable records of all commercial transactions; prepare progress and cost reports for management
- Guide and mentor junior QS team members, ensuring effective skill transfer and knowledge sharing
- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with HSEQ standards at all times
