Job Description
Absa Bank is looking for a Senior Asset Finance Specialist to join its Commercial Asset Finance team in Cape Town. This hybrid role focuses on managing and expanding a defined client portfolio, driving revenue growth, cross-sell opportunities, and market share. The successful candidate will work closely with internal product and sector teams to deliver tailored CAF solutions and ensure long-term client retention through strategic engagement.
Requirements
- Minimum B-degree (NQF level 7)
- At least seven years of Sales and Relationship Management experience in Commercial or Corporate Investment Banking focused on Commercial Asset Finance Lending
- Minimum five years of experience evaluating complex company financials
- At least five years of experience structuring complex credit solutions and managing the credit process
- Ability to develop and retain client relationships with sustainable value
- Strong knowledge of CAF lending and commercial banking products
- Ability to manage risk exposure while pursuing portfolio growth
- Experience in negotiating pricing and driving profitability
- Capability to work with high-risk accounts in collaboration with credit teams
- Understanding of cash flow, security analysis, and credit risk evaluation
- Strong service orientation with ability to educate clients on financial products
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills for client trends and risk assessment
- Knowledge of service excellence principles and ability to mentor others
Responsibilities
- Serve as the main contact for CAF clients and manage a portfolio through strategic relationship building
- Identify and acquire new business opportunities aligned with Absa's value proposition
- Negotiate pricing with clients to maximize returns while adhering to bank policy
- Manage the portfolio's income statement and balance sheet to meet production targets
- Drive portfolio growth by increasing cross-sell ratios and expanding market presence
- Handle operational and service-related client issues by coordinating with internal support teams
- Deliver relevant financial solutions using expertise in transactional and credit products
- Evaluate and manage credit risk, client financials, and security structures
- Co-manage high-risk accounts and maintain open communication with credit teams
- Provide transparent client feedback and align credit expectations
- Develop service strategies to promote long-term client engagement
- Advise clients on financial products and how they align with client needs
- Encourage service delivery excellence and mentor team members
- Produce analytical reports identifying trends, risks, and client insights
- Identify and resolve service issues across client portfolios
- Maintain an enabling and high-performance work environment
- Monitor industry developments to inform strategic decisions
