The National Sales Manager - Retail Channel will be responsible for driving sales, customer investment strategies, and long-term growth across the Grocery Channel, managing accounts such as Shoprite, SPAR, Pick n Pay, and Boxer.

Requirements

  • BComm Degree or suitable tertiary qualification
  • Minimum of 10 years Key Accounts experience at an FMCG Company
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High degree of analytical capability
  • Effective conflict management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • A 'can do' attitude and spirit
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation abilities
  • An international mindset with openness to change and a holistic view
  • Gregarious, assertive, and tenacious personality
  • Solid management and inspirational leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a customer investment and sales strategy to achieve brand market share, sales, margins, and customer contribution targets across the NIVEA brands within the Grocery Channel
  • Manage key retail accounts such as Shoprite, SPAR, Pick n Pay, and Boxer
  • Create and implement sales and customer-marketing annual, medium, and long-term plans in collaboration with account managers
  • Implement customer marketing plans ensuring efficient execution within retailers
  • Monitor variances to plan and propose countermeasures with effective implementation
  • Implement agreed list pricing in consultation with Finance to achieve profit targets
  • Prepare and implement customer promotion plans aligned with sales objectives
  • Execute defined retail strategies in collaboration with Operations teams
  • Deliver product distribution and display objectives at point-of-sale
  • Implement and manage the customer TTC system aligned with regional strategies
  • Develop pay-for-performance guidelines and roll out a TTC 3-year plan
  • Build strategic business relationships with customers for integrated B2B engagement
  • Represent sales within the Southern Africa Sales Team and drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Define and implement go-to-market strategies with the S&CM Manager to adapt to changing shopper behaviors
  • Develop strategies to protect or increase net pricing in the retail environment
  • Build and manage a strong, agile sales team to respond to evolving retailer environments and shopper habits
  • Report to the Sales Director while managing a team of 6 National Key Account Managers
