Job Description

The Childrens Hospital Trust seeks a Head of Child Public Health to lead and support strategic projects related to child health. This role focuses on project analysis, reporting, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring effective implementation and fundraising support. The successful candidate will act as the main liaison for all child public health initiatives and work closely with internal teams and external partners.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management or related field
  • Tertiary qualification in Child Public Health (advantageous)
  • 5+ years of experience in project management and report writing
  • Proven critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office 365, SharePoint, and databases
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience in nonprofit or fundraising environments (advantageous)
  • High-level report writing and data analysis skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and teams
  • Capable of thriving in autonomous and responsibility-heavy environments
  • Own transport required
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Preference for applicants from Cape Town surrounding areas

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate development and review of prospective projects for funding
  • Engage with child health sector stakeholders to identify needs and priorities
  • Guide project concept development and business case preparation
  • Design new projects and prepare proposals and budgets
  • Coordinate Project Review Committee processes
  • Support presentation of project motivations to Exco and Board of Trustees
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on funded child public health projects
  • Collaborate with implementation partners, finance, and procurement teams
  • Provide regular program reports to senior management and governance bodies
  • Maintain project data and update management systems
  • Support fundraising through preparation of project documents with donor relations and CEO
  • Review budgets and expenditure, and provide financial feedback
  • Facilitate understanding of projects within CHT to ensure accurate fundraising and reporting
