Job Description
The FAIS Ombud Client Care Graduate Internship Programme 2025 is a 12-month opportunity for unemployed South African graduates to gain hands-on experience in the Client Care Department of the Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers. Established under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002, the FAIS Ombud resolves complaints against financial service providers in a fair, informal, economical, and expeditious manner. Based in Pretoria, interns will work in a target-driven call centre environment, receive mentorship from experienced lawyers, financial planners, investigators, and negotiators, and develop skills in financial consumer protection and client service.
Requirements
- South African citizen with a valid South African Identity document
- Diploma in Office Administration (NQF Level 6)
- Passion for public service
- Interest in the financial services industry
- Strong academic background
- Ability to work in a stressful environment
- Willingness to learn and work extra hours
- Energetic and self-driven
- Deadline-driven
- Computer literate
- Ability to provide SAPS-certified copies (not older than 3 months) of qualifications, Matric certificate, and South African ID
Responsibilities
- Register new complaints received by the FAIS Ombud
- Assess whether complaints fall within the jurisdiction of the FAIS Act or Financial Services Ombuds Scheme Act 37 of 2004
- Assist and guide complainants on jurisdictional matters
- Extract the essence of complaints from provided information
- Request additional information from complainants as needed
- Refer complaints outside the FAIS Act and FSOS Act jurisdiction to relevant entities
- Liaise with complainants and financial service providers
- Participate in competency-based training under mentorship
- Support the Client Care Department in a target-driven environment
- Contribute to resolving complaints in a procedurally fair, informal, economical, and expeditious manner
