Electrical Supervisor

Job Description

Lead electrical installations at Ivanhoe Mines’ Limpopo mining project as an Electrical Supervisor. You’ll oversee the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role involves managing teams, coordinating contractors, and supporting the commissioning of advanced mining infrastructure, contributing to a world-class, technology-driven operation.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (NQF 4)
• Recognised Trade Qualification (Section 13/26D) or completed apprenticeship with NTC 2 Trade Theory
• Senior Foreman-related certification or equivalent international qualification (preferred)
• Fault-finding and troubleshooting
• Team leadership and mentoring
• Contractor and resource management
• Planning and coordination of electrical projects
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of power reticulation systems (LV, MV, HV)
• Understanding of electrical safety regulations and MHSA compliance
• Minimum 10 years post-apprenticeship experience, with at least 4 years as a qualified artisan in mining electrical environments
• Proven track record in managing electrical installations in shaft sinking projects
• Experience in electrical construction projects in both surface and underground mining environments (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise electrical infrastructure installation, testing, and commissioning
• Ensure electrical work meets project specifications, quality standards, and deadlines
• Conduct planned and preventative maintenance on electrical systems including substations, transformers, and HV/MV/LV networks
• Enforce compliance with MHSA regulations, electrical codes, and SHEQ standards
• Lead and mentor electrical teams, supporting skills transfer initiatives
• Manage electrical materials, tools, spares, and contractors to meet project requirements within budget
• Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and safety meetings
• Support commissioning activities and verify operational readiness
• Liaise with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success
