Job Description

uMhlathuze Local Municipality, part of the King Cetshwayo District in KwaZulu-Natal, is hiring 18 Casual Cashiers for Sports and Recreation (Swimming Pools). The positions involve handling payments, reconciling collections, and ensuring professional interaction with the public and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Computer literacy: MS Office
  • 2-5 years’ relevant experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and adapt communication to the audience
  • Ability to follow through on client or stakeholder requests within procedures
  • Daily task planning and prioritisation
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
  • Professional interaction with the general public and stakeholders
  • Understanding of client issues and ability to gather information about requirements
  • Emotional resilience and ability to handle difficult situations effectively
  • Knowledge of working on a cash register
  • Previous cashing experience
  • Ability to work on weekends and public holidays

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks and activities associated with receiving and receipting payments
  • Provide information and explanation on charges
  • Reconcile daily total collections against receipts
  • Prepare schedules for verification before forwarding cash and cheques for deposit
  • Work weekends and public holidays as required
