Assistant Financial Manager

Pollock Associates is hiring an Assistant Financial Manager to support and partner with the Head of Finance in a growing retail business. The role involves managing financial accuracy, overseeing month-end processes, performing reconciliations, and improving finance systems and workflows. This position suits a newly qualified CA ready to lead, mentor, and help instill a culture of performance, accountability, and improvement within the finance team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Completed SAICA articles
• Newly qualified CA (essential)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial accounting or auditing
• Experience leading or mentoring junior staff
• Strong month-end and reconciliation expertise
• Analytical thinking with high attention to detail
• Confident communication and review skills
• ERP systems experience (Odoo advantageous)
• Leadership mindset and commitment to team development

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Finance in all core financial operations
• Review and coordinate monthly closings and reconciliations
• Ensure accuracy and integrity across financial processes
• Implement and improve financial systems and reporting
• Mentor and develop junior finance staff
• Promote high standards of performance and accountability
