Software Engineer: Back-End 10083

Job Description

Capitec is hiring a Level III Software Engineer (Back-End) for the Credit Applications Department in its Business Bank division. The role encompasses end-to-end software development for systems handling credit applications such as overdrafts, credit cards, and term loans. The engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software solutions, while mentoring other developers and solving complex technical issues.

Requirements

• Grade 12 National Certificate (minimum)
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology (preferred)
• 6+ years of proven experience in back-end software development, project delivery, and implementation
• Experience with back-end frameworks and technologies
• Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices
• Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, AWS EventBridge, or RabbitMQ
• Proficiency in C#
• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience working in AWS environments
• DevOps knowledge (beneficial)

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from concept to deployment
• Design, develop, test, and enhance complex back-end software systems
• Ensure software scalability, maintainability, and performance
• Implement and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
• Leverage event-driven architectures for asynchronous processing and real-time data streaming
• Collaborate with other developers and stakeholders to resolve engineering problems
• Contribute to DevOps processes where applicable
• Mentor junior developers
