Job Description

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is recruiting entry-level Police Trainees. The programme seeks young, energetic, intelligent, physically and mentally fit individuals committed to public service and interested in a policing career. Successful candidates will be enlisted into the Metro Policing Training Programme.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 qualification (documentary proof required)
  • Valid manual transmission driver’s licence and must pass departmental driving test
  • No criminal record or pending cases; must undergo fingerprinting at own cost
  • Not listed in the sexual or child offender register; no history of dismissal due to misconduct in government
  • South African citizen residing in the City of Tshwane (proof of residence and affidavit if surname differs from registered owner required)
  • Age between 18 and 35 years
  • Medically fit and able to provide a certificate allowing strenuous physical activity
  • Completion of physical fitness evaluation and assessment
  • Willingness to undergo and pass a psychometric assessment
  • Proficient in English and must pass a language assessment
  • Not declared incompetent to possess a firearm under Sections 102, 103 or 104 of the Firearms Control Act, 2000
  • No visible tattoos when wearing any TMPD uniform
  • Willingness to sign and uphold the TMPD code of conduct

Responsibilities

  • Enforce the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996)
  • Conduct traffic policing duties as permitted by law
  • Police municipal by-laws and regulations
  • Engage in crime prevention activities
