Maintenance Assistant

Job Description

RCL Foods is searching for a Maintenance Assistant to support the Shift Artisan in their baking division. Based in Spartan, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with all electrical, mechanical, and civil maintenance and repairs of machinery and equipment. This role is ideal for a hands-on individual with a technical background who is committed to ensuring equipment operates smoothly and safely.

Requirements

• Grade 12/ Matric with physical science and Mathematics, or Technical Senior Certificate/similar technical qualification.
• N3 certificate in mechanical/electrical engineering will be advantageous.
• 1+ years’ experience as a maintenance assistant in an FMCG or similar environment.
• Welding; measuring; knowledge of tools and correct application thereof.

Responsibilities

• Inspect machinery and equipment according to supplier requirements and maintenance procedures.
• Assist with the maintenance of all related machinery and equipment as per the maintenance plan and schedule.
• Assist with electrical repairs on machinery and in the building during breakdowns.
• Inspect and maintain water systems and main water supply according to the maintenance schedule.
• Assist with building maintenance as per schedule.
• Execute all reasonable instructions issued by the Artisan and Manager for daily tasks.
• Perform daily inspections of all related machinery, equipment, and constructions to prevent breakdowns.
• Assist with special projects.
• Ensure the toolbox is fully stocked, clean, and hygienic.
• Keep the maintenance workshop clean and tidy, with all items in their correct place.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area, adhering to good housekeeping practices.
• Follow all food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines.
• Ensure all work areas are cleaned and free from contaminants after maintenance work is completed.
