Launch & Localisation Supervisor

Job Description

As a Launch & Localisation Supervisor at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa, you’ll lead a team of engineers in Pretoria to localize components and ensure flawless vehicle launches. Your role focuses on managing Body Exterior and Structural Systems, driving cost reductions through Team Value Management (TVM), and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet engineering standards. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to oversee critical aspects of new model introductions, ensuring quality and efficiency in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an automotive Product Development environment

Responsibilities

• Lead the localisation of components for new model launches post-engineering Final Data Judgment (FDJ) to post-Ok to Buy (OKTB)
• Represent Lead Vehicle Engineering Activity (LVEA) for components and systems related to Body Exterior & Structural during launch
• Lead engineers to root cause quality or build issues during launch and implement robust containment actions to ensure quality build phases
• Work with suppliers and LVEA engineers to implement permanent corrective actions for quality or build issues
• Lead the team of engineers localizing components for new model launches within the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process
• Lead the team of engineers in TVM actions to project manage local suppliers to deliver local Body Exterior & Structural components on time and with quality
• Interface with LVEA engineers to ensure all engineering standards and requirements are met
• Lead the implementation of design cost reduction actions
• Work within a large cross-functional group including Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planning & Logistics, Supplier Technical Assistance, and Finance
• Provide training to new engineers on the various Ford PD systems and processes required to perform their functions
