Job Description

Join St Anne’s Teacher Internship Programme, starting January 2026, to gain practical teaching experience across academic, boarding, and extra-curricular activities. Interns will participate in teaching practice, pastoral care, boarding house duties, sports chaperoning, and a Grade 9 outdoor trip, developing professional skills in a caring boarding school environment.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be pursuing a PGCE or be a 4th year BEd (Senior or FET) student in 2026
  • Be pursuing or intend to pursue a career in teaching
  • Be qualified or intending to teach at least one of the following subjects: Life Orientation, Visual Arts, Consumer Studies, isiZulu, Afrikaans, French, Life Science, Physical Science, Dramatic Arts, Economics, Accounting
  • Be physically fit and able to participate in and accompany a Grade 9 outdoor adventure
  • Be prepared to live in single accommodation on campus and assume boarding house responsibilities; preference given to female students
  • Driver’s license advantageous but not essential
  • Have a valid/recent criminal clearance certificate
  • Commitment to a 1-year contract
  • Study a relevant qualification i.e., B.Ed (Senior & FET) or PGCE
  • Support the Christian ethos of the school

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of school life including academic teaching, pastoral care, and boarding house duties
  • Chaperone sports activities and Grade 9 outdoor trips
  • Engage in extra-curricular activities alongside students
  • Apply theoretical knowledge in practical teaching environments
  • Contribute to the professional development environment of the College
  • Follow school policies and procedures
  • Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality as per POPIA guidelines
