Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Director to manage Contracts and Performance within our Supply Chain Management division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the post-award phase of the procurement cycle, focusing on diligent contract administration and supplier performance management. This includes handling contract variations, evaluating price adjustments, resolving disputes, and ensuring that all suppliers adhere to service level agreements. This leadership role is critical for safeguarding the department's interests and ensuring value for money.

Requirements

  • A qualification in SCM or Finance at NQF Level 7, or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
  • A minimum of three years of direct experience in contract management.
  • At least two of the three years of experience must have been at a supervisory level.
  • A valid and unendorsed driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all variations and amendments to existing contracts.
  • Thoroughly evaluate applications for price adjustments and invoke penalty clauses when necessary.
  • Assess applications for contract variations, amendments, and cancellations, and prepare proposals for approval.
  • Lead dispute resolution processes, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and available.
  • Maintain ethical and professional relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Rigorously monitor supplier performance against the terms of the contract and the service level agreement (SLA).
  • Establish performance agreements for all subordinates in line with departmental objectives.
  • Manage team members effectively, upholding discipline and professional standards.
  • Coordinate and manage the training and development initiatives for subordinates.
  • Ensure team members are provided with the necessary equipment and resources to perform their roles.
  • Provide consistent verbal and written feedback to subordinates during quarterly performance reviews.
  • Actively mentor and coach subordinates to support their career progression.
  • Determine the future human resource needs for the unit in consultation with Corporate Services.
  • Develop, update, and oversee the implementation of the service delivery and work plan for the team.
  • Provide clear direction to subordinates on work plans, core business functions, and departmental priorities through regular meetings.
  • Facilitate the transfer of skills between subordinates and external technical consultants.
  • Strategically plan and allocate work responsibilities to control performance and assure quality outcomes.
