Job Description

As the Manager Maintenance Engineering in the Eastern Cape, you will oversee technical compliance and maintenance operations to ensure the seamless functioning of airport infrastructure. Reporting to the Local Airport Manager Cluster 3, you will manage contracts, budgets, and maintenance programs while providing specialized technical support. Your leadership will drive efficiency, compliance, and team performance, contributing to the operational excellence of Airports Company South Africa’s regional facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years – 480 credits) – BTech/BSc in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is essential.
  • 7 years operational experience in Engineering/Building environment is essential.
  • 3 years management experience in Engineering environment is essential.
  • Code B driver’s license is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical compliance audits.
  • Ensure ACSA maintenance contracts are in place.
  • Manage overall governance and provide input into contract specifications.
  • Compile, manage, and account for relevant budgets according to business requirements and specifications.
  • Participate in commissioning and decommissioning of plants.
  • Manage programme of scheduled maintenance and related processes including assets management, scheduling, and work coordination.
  • Plan and forecast corrective and preventative maintenance according to resources and spares availability.
  • Ensure work requests and work orders are generated for maintenance activities.
  • Accountable for operational team performance through effective management within policies and procedures to ensure achievement of standards/objectives.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise/coordinate subordinate activities within processes or services to achieve efficiency and quality goals.
  • Ensure that procurement processes are started with sufficient time to ensure continuity of contracts.
  • Implement and manage maintenance CAPEX projects in line with set standards.
  • Compile a report outlining scope of projects and project objectives.
  • Build, support, and maintain healthy diverse internal (peers, unions, team) as well as external (service providers, etc.) relationships and implement remedial actions where required to ensure achievement of organisational goals.
  • Provide relevant and specialised technical support in area of expertise to relevant stakeholders to ensure achievement of objectives.
  • Participate in people development initiatives such as performance management, succession planning, talent management, etc. to ensure team performance meets required standards.
  • Coordinate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders with regards to impact of project activities.
