Health and Safety Officer

Job Description

The Tolcon Group seeks a Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and construction regulations at the Huguenot Tunnel and Toll Plaza. The role involves developing and improving safety plans, conducting incident investigations, and supporting contractor health and safety documentation.

Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate
• National Diploma in Safety Management
• Additional Certificates in Occupational Health and Safety Management (NQF 5)
• Compulsory registration with SACPCMP as a Safety Officer or higher designation
• Registration with SAIOSH or IOSH (beneficial)
• 3-5 years experience as a Health and Safety Officer in construction
• Experience with Contractor Management 37 (2) Agreements and Auditing
• Excellent computer literacy with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Valid unendorsed Code 08 driver's license
• Fit for duty with Occupational Medical certificate
• Ability to work independently and within a team

Responsibilities

• Ensure project compliance with OHS and Construction Regulations
• Develop, implement, and improve health and safety plans, programmes, and procedures
• Manage emergency procedures including firefighting and first aid
• Conduct incident investigations and address unsafe working conditions
• Recommend and implement corrective actions
• Maintain all occupational health and safety records
• Assist in preparing project-specific health and safety documentation for contractors
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment in the workplace
