Step-by-Step Process to Submit the SASSA Reconsideration Appeal Online
1. Visit the official website:
Open your internet browser (like Google Chrome or Safari) on your computer or phone.
In the address bar, type "srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal" and press Enter. This will take you directly to the SASSA reconsideration webpage.
2. Enter your details:
On the webpage, you'll see two boxes labelled "South African ID number" and "Phone number used in your application."
Carefully enter your South African ID number without any spaces or hyphens.
Enter the phone number you used when you initially applied for the SASSA grant.
3. Verify with OTP:
Once you've entered your details, click the button labelled "Send pin".
You'll receive a One-Time Pin (OTP) via SMS on the phone number you provided.
Enter the received OTP in the designated field on the webpage.
Clicking "Submit" will log you into the reconsideration portal.
4. Navigate and select:
Once logged in, look for the "Reconsideration" tab on the top menu and click it.
On the reconsideration page, you'll see a list of months for which you can submit an appeal.
Carefully select the specific month for which your initial grant application was rejected.
5. Explain and support:
A section labelled "Reason for Appeal" will appear. Here, you need to clearly and concisely explain why you believe the decision to reject your grant application was incorrect.
Be specific and state your reasons in simple, easy-to-understand language.
For example, you could mention any changes in your financial circumstances, any errors in the initial application, or any additional information that supports your eligibility.
Below the reason, you'll find a section labelled "Supporting Documents". This is where you can upload any documents that strengthen your appeal.
Click "Choose File" and select the document you want to upload. You can upload multiple documents if needed.
Important: Ensure the documents are clear, readable, and in a format accepted by the website (usually PDF, JPG, or PNG).
6. Submit and wait:
Once you've explained your reason and uploaded supporting documents (if any), carefully review everything for accuracy.
If satisfied, click the button labelled "Submit Appeal".
You'll receive a confirmation message on your screen, and a copy of your appeal will be sent to your registered phone number via SMS.
7. Wait for the decision:
SASSA will review your reconsideration request, and you can expect a decision within 60 to 90 working days.
