How To Collect Your Sassa SRD R370 Money At ShopRite

Good news!

If you've been approved for the R370 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, getting your money is easier than you think, especially if you choose to collect it at Shoprite.

The whole process was surprisingly simple, even for someone like me who isn't super tech-savvy.

With a bit of preparation and the right information, getting my R370 felt like a quick trip to the store, not a stressful government ordeal.

So, let me walk you through it, step-by-step, so you can breeze through the process with confidence.

Step-By-Step Guide to Collect Your R370 at ShopRite

  1. Approval Check: The first step is to make sure you've actually been approved. Here's how:
  2. Collection Message: Don't rush to Shoprite just yet! It's very important to wait for the official SMS from SASSA telling you the money is ready for collection.
  3. Find a Shoprite: You can collect your grant at almost any Shoprite store. If you're not sure where the nearest one is, you can:
    • Ask a friend or family member: See if they know of a Shoprite close by.
    • Use the SASSA website: Go to "srd.sassa.gov.za" and look for a list of places where you can collect the grant.
    • Call SASSA: Their phone number is 0800 60 10 11.
  4. Go to the Money Market Counter: Inside Shoprite, there's a special counter just for money matters. It's usually called the "Money Market."
  5. Tell the Cashier: Let the person at the counter know you're there to collect your R370 SRD grant.
  6. Show Your ID: The cashier will need to see your South African ID to confirm it's really you.
  7. Get Your SMS: Your phone will receive a text message with a special code. This is like a secret password just for your money.
  8. Give the Cashier the Code: Read the code from the text message out loud to the cashier.
  9. Receive Your Cash: The cashier will give you your R370 in cash. Count it carefully to make sure it's the right amount.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

  • Bring Your Phone: The SMS with the code is very important, so make sure your phone is with you and charged.
  • No Bank Card Needed: You don't need a bank account or card to collect your grant.
  • No Fees: There should be NO charge to get your grant. If anyone asks you for money, tell them no and report it to SASSA.

Need Help?

If you have any trouble, don't worry. You can:

  • Visit the SASSA Website: Go to "srd.sassa.gov.za" for more information.
  • Call SASSA: Their phone number is 0800 60 10 11. They're there to help!
