Bachelor of Social Science Extended Curriculum (BSS4)
This four-year degree, also known as the Humanities Access Programme, is structured to assist students who may need additional academic support.
The curriculum includes modules in Academic Literacy, English Language Development, Basic Computer Skills, Basic Numeracy, and Life Skills.
It’s offered at both the Howard College and Pietermaritzburg campuses.
Applicants are required to have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) for degree studies with English and Life Orientation at Level 4, and an APS between 20 and 27.
Bachelor of Arts in Music Foundation Programme
This four-year programme is tailored for students without formal musical training or those from disadvantaged educational backgrounds.
The curriculum encompasses foundational courses such as Practical Studies, Performance Skills, Music Fundamentals, and Academic Writing in Music.
An audition is a prerequisite for admission.
Applicants should have an NSC for degree studies with English and Life Orientation at Level 4, and an APS of at least 22.
Bachelor of Education (BEd)
The BEd is a four-year professional degree aimed at preparing students for a teaching career.
Specializations are available in Foundation Phase (Grades 1-3), Intermediate Phase (Grades 4-6), and Senior and Further Education and Training Phases (Grades 7-12).

Certificate in Business Administration (CBA)
This six-month programme introduces fundamental business concepts, practices, and techniques aligned with modern business environments.
It’s ideal for individuals aiming to start or advance their careers in business, including junior managers, administrators, clerks, and entrepreneurs seeking to enhance their business skills.
The curriculum covers Business Communication, Business Computing and Logical Reasoning, Introduction to Management Science, and the Environment of Business.
While this certificate provides valuable business knowledge, it does not guarantee automatic acceptance into UKZN degree programmes.
